
A tragic incident unfolded in Washington Township this Monday when a three-vehicle collision claimed the life of a 63-year-old Macomb Township woman and left three others injured, authorities reported. The Macomb County Sheriff's Office responded to the scene at approximately 9:30 a.m. at the intersection of 32 Mile Road and M-53, a grim commencement to the week.
The deceased, a passenger in a Jeep, was pronounced dead at the hospital following the crash. The 64-year-old Macomb Township man, who was driving the Jeep, was listed in stable condition. A 68-year-old man from Oxford driving a Chevrolet pickup, along with a 27-year-old Riley Township woman who was behind the wheel of a Ford Escape, was also transported to the hospital, and they too, were reported to be in stable condition, The Detroit News stated.
According to law enforcement, the Ford Escape was traveling south on M-53 when it allegedly ran through a red light at 32 Mile Road, slamming into the Jeep which was headed west. The force of the impact caused the Jeep to collide with the Chevy pickup truck, intensifying the wreckage and the subsequent emergency response that ensued, as reported by ClickOnDetroit.
