Clear skies will grace Austin today as the city is set to enjoy the brightest day of the week, with temperatures expected to reach a pleasant high of 69 degrees, as reported by the National Weather Service. However, this serene weather is short-lived, Austinites can expect increasing cloud cover from midweek onwards with Pacific moisture moving in.
The calm before the storm is evident, Austinites should make the most of the current dry conditions because a large trough causing havoc in the west with flooding and heavy snowfall is also ushering minimal rain chances our way starting late this week, KXAN reports. Logically speaking an uptick in showers is on the horizon for the weekend, but forecasters are playing it close to the vest when it comes to the precision of rainfall timing and quantity.

The warmth remains steady throughout the week, with nightly low temperatures hovering in the mid-40s to high 50s, as detailed by the National Weather Service’s prediction. The winds will also pick up pace, potentially reaching gusts of up to 20 mph, bringing more than just a breeze to the streets of Austin.
Dreary mornings with a side of drizzle and fog are predicted for Thursday and Friday, the skies preparing to weep gently, with a mere 20 percent chance of precipitation as KXAN suggests. The likelihood of rain is inched higher over the weekend, where scattered showers may become a regular feature, albeit with less than a quarter-inch of rainfall expected – enough to dampen the sidewalks, but unlikely to spoil weekend plans.
As Sunday rolls around, Austin residents should be prepared for a 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, though they can still expect some sun to peek through the clouds, offering a daytime high near a comfortable 70 degrees. The ride into early next week looks to bring more sun and cooler air, leading to a mostly sunny Monday with highs settling in the lower 60s.
