Dallas is slated for a balmy 74 degrees today with partly sunny skies, but don't let the mild south wind fool you. Tonight, the city can expect to see patchy fog rolling in after 4 a.m., a prologue to a weekend of showers and potential thunderstorms, according to the National Weather Service.
The NWS forecasts a mostly cloudy Friday with the mercury hovering near 73 degrees and winds gusting up to 20 mph. By Friday night, Dallas will see a 20 percent chance of showers after 1 a.m., setting the stage for a wetter weekend ahead. The likelihood of rain ramps up to 60 percent on Saturday morning, with showers expected mainly between 7 a.m. and 1 p.m., amidst cloudy skies and a high of 64 degrees.
Saturday night's forecast isn't looking much drier—there's a 50 percent shot at more showers and possibly thunderstorms after 4 a.m. But Sunday is when the heavens are slated to open up with a 70 percent chance of morning showers and thunderstorms, followed by possible afternoon precipitation. Plan for a high of 59 degrees and gusty east winds swinging west-northwest as the day progresses. "Thunderstorms are also possible after 4 am," warns the National Weather Service.
By Sunday night, the chance of showers and thunderstorms dips to 40 percent before clearing up. As the workweek begins, Dallasites can look forward to a return to mostly sunny skies on Monday with a high near 54 degrees and continued gusty conditions. Temperatures at night are expected to drop to a chilly 35 degrees. Looking ahead, Tuesday and Wednesday promise respite with clear, sunny days and highs in the low 60s.
