In an audacious early morning heist, thieves made off with a trio of rare farm animals from Detroit's Pingree Farms, a nonprofit organization dedicated to educating youth about agriculture. According to ClickOnDetroit, the theft occurred on the city's east side around 3 a.m. Thursday, with the farm's founder, Jimmy Mack, reporting a specially-trained sheep, bull, and a rare goat missing after noticing animals running free within the compound.
WWJ Newsradio 950 detailed that Jimmy Mack and the staff at Pingree Farms were still in search of the beloved farm animals, last seen being led away into darkness by individuals captured on surveillance footage. Pingree Farms, known for its urban agriculture outreach and positioned in proximity to Milton Manufacturing.
Security cameras on the premises recorded the incident, revealing at least three men and several vehicles involved in the abduction. One dark-colored GMC Envoy and a black Ford Expedition, complete with a trailer, were seen on the tapes. This trailer appeared to be unfit for animal transport, suggesting an improvisation by perpetrators hauling away the creatures, which included "Little Bully," a miniature Angus bull, "Angel" the sheep, and a Nubian goat.
Aaron Hale of Pingree Farms relayed to FOX 2 Detroit his disbelief and desperation, "What do you with a little bull?" "What the heck – just what the heck," The remainder of the farm's herd has been reportedly unsettled since the ordeal.
Authorities and concerned citizens are urged to come forward with any information that could assist in the retrieval of the stolen animals and the capture of those responsible. Anyone with knowledge of the incident is requested to get in touch with the Detroit Police Department.
