Joining the nationwide initiative dubbed Operation Greenlight, county officials and residents are coming together to pay tribute to the sacrifices of veterans. This tribute, enveloping county buildings in an emerald glow, has landed just in time for a week-long Veterans Day celebration, from Nov. 6 to Nov. 12, according to Denton County, Texas.
At the helm of this commendable movement is Paul Bastaich, Denton County's Veterans Service Officer. At the Commissioners Court meeting on Tuesday, an emotional Bastaich expressed his gratitude "on behalf of all veterans and their families," after witnessing the illuminated courthouses the previous evening, as per Denton County, Texas. The glow began to cast its supportive light on Monday from two anchor points: the Denton County Administrative Courthouse and the historic Courthouse-on-the-Square.
The green light serves as more than a mere visual gesture. It is Denton County's way of sending a silent but strong message of solidarity, recognition, and support to those who have donned the uniform. And while the county edifices bathe in verdant luminance, residents and business owners are also encouraged to illuminate their premises with green lights, ensuring veterans feel the enduring appreciation of their communities.
Denton County Commissioners Court didn't just stop at flipping the switch on green lights. In a token of respect and recognition, they publicly thanked Bastaich and his fellow service members for their past commitments and ongoing contributions to the nation. The schedule of tributes reaches a pinnacle on Nov. 10 at 11 a.m. with a ceremonial gathering. Honoring veterans in the very shadow of the Courthouse-on-the-Square, the day is set to feature guest speakers, an equipment display, and a rifle volley, among other demonstrative elements of gratitude.
