On the evening of February 12, a routine traffic stop by Fairfield Police turned up more than just a couple of road violations. According to the Fairfield Police Department's post on Facebook, Officer Kennedy initially pulled over 60-year-old Henry Hughey for a probation violation and a vehicle code infraction. But the situation quickly escalated from there.
During the stop, a drug-sniffing canine named K9 Kilo, accompanied by his handler, Officer Brightwell, got a whiff of something suspicious. The savvy K9 signaled the presence of narcotics within the vehicle. As is standard procedure in such incidents, this led to an extensive search of Hughey's car.
A thorough search, prompted by K9 Kilo's alert, unearthed 26.1 grams of what is suspected to be methamphetamine, alongside a stash of $609 in cash. These findings could suggest intent to distribute, but the official charges will be determined by the results of an ongoing investigation.
Subsequently, Hughey was arrested and escorted to the Solano County Jail. His rap sheet from the incident includes driving without a license, a probation violation, and several drug-related charges. Detailed information provided by Fairfield Police Department's Facebook page narrates the sequence of events that led to the discovery and Hughey's arrest.
