Early Thursday morning, flames consumed a house under construction in the upscale Tanglewood neighborhood of Houston, Texas. The blaze, which broke out around 6:30 a.m. in the 6100 block of Crab Orchard Road, injured a firefighter in the process. ABC13 reported that the firefighter was later transported to the hospital with a minor ankle injury.

Visible from miles around, the fire's smoke was first detected by Houston Transtar cameras, a sight verified as far more than a morning haze. With the home nearing completion after three years of construction, ABC13 cameras captured the scene shortly after the fire department arrived, showing a house being devoured by the fire, a dumpster and small excavator abandoned in the front yard. Houston Fire Chief Sam Peña, told ABC13, "The fire started somewhere in the back of the home and appeared very large because the house had a lot of ventilation and lumber."

The homeowner, who had just approved the electrical work on Wednesday, now faces an investigation to determine whether an electrical fault was to blame for the fire. Despite the raging fire, there were no civilian casualties since the home was still under construction and unoccupied. As stated by Houston Fire Department's post on X, the area was cordoned off and people were advised to avoid the vicinity.
