Marble Falls just got a bit sweeter with the opening of Gillen's Candies + Wine, a store specializing in craft chocolates, fine wines, and a selection of gourmet goods that locals can't seem to get enough of. Since its soft opening on Feb. 10, the community has been indulging in the store's homemade pizzas, artisan pottery, and, of course, the unlimited wine and beer tastings accompanied by a plethora of appetizers. The store's mission is "to make Marble Falls a little sweeter with each passing day," according to MySA.
This isn't Gillen's first rodeo in Texas—their journey began back in 2017 in Blanco County and has seen the business setting up shop from Lampasas to its new locale at 210 Main Street in Marble Falls. And it looks like their fan base has been more than willing to follow suit, with customers expressing their loyalty and well wishes on social media. "Best of luck in your new location. But I have to say we miss you being in Lampasas!" said Barb Abrego, while another patron, Cindy Voss, remarked, "I liked your last space, but I love this more. You have made a great space here. So excited for you and Gillen's Candies + Wine!", both statements were obtained by MySA.
Gillen's isn't just resting on its laurels, however. With their one-year anniversary coming up, they're preparing to throw a bash that goes beyond the average retail celebratory event. Scheduled for July 14, the celebration promises a day filled with live music, food, and wine talks with representatives from vineyards like Galilee Wines and Lost Draw Cellars, as reported by the Texas Hill Country.
Founded in 1895, Gillen's has been a go-to source for top-notch chocolates and candies for over a century now—Steve Gillen is currently at the helm, ensuring the family's sweet legacy continues to flourish. He's a man who can speak to "each product’s origin, the maker’s history, and what works well alongside it."
