A man was taken off the streets of Harris County after failing a sobriety test during a traffic stop on the Katy Freeway. According to an official Facebook post by Precinct 4, Geovany Menchu was stopped by deputies with Constable Mark Herman's Office in the 17200 block, where he exhibited obvious signs of intoxication.
After being subjected to Standardized Field Sobriety Tests, it was determined that Menchu was indeed under the influence and his breathalyzer test seemed to definitively confirm that suspicion, revealing a blood alcohol content of 0.14. This level is well above the legal limit, putting him and others at serious risk on the road. "Geovany Menchu was arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail, charged with Driving While Intoxicated," Constable Mark Herman reported.
As is procedure, Menchu's court and bond information were not immediately available following his arrest. The consequences for driving while intoxicated in Texas can include fines, a suspended license, and even jail time, especially with such a high blood alcohol content.
