A 70-year-old Highlands woman, Judy Fraize, was charged on Monday with multiple offenses tied to the Jan. 6 Capitol riot, including entering a restricted building and disorderly conduct, according to federal court documents. The Houston Chronicle reports that Fraize, donning a MAGA hat and blue mask while filming with her cell phone, was among the rioters who stormed the Capitol and roamed its halls for approximately 40 minutes.
The FBI affidavit reveals Fraize entered the Capitol shortly after it was breached and was later confronted by a police officer, to whom she "appeared to say 'blue lives matter' but did not immediately stand up." She was linked to the event via a Gmail account associated with a phone present at the scene. When interviewed back in 2021, Fraize admitted to attending Trump's rally and provided videos she captured inside the Capitol. In her recent court appearance in Houston, she was granted a personal recognizance bond, with her next court date yet to be announced. She is the 19th Houston-area individual charged in relation to the Jan. 6 events.
Looking back at the incident one year later, KHOU offered insight into the Houston residents involved, including former HPD officer Tam Dinh Pham and several others facing charges ranging from disorderly conduct to assaulting officers. Notable among the Texans was Jenna Ryan, the North Texas Realtor who flew on a private jet to participate and is currently serving a 60-day sentence. Texas, being a large red state with a substantial Trump supporter base, unsurprisingly has one of the highest numbers of alleged rioters from any state. Political science professor Mark Jones noted to KHOU that "a lot of them have the economic resources to allow to travel to Washington D.C. and participate in the insurrection."
