A woman has been arrested and charged after allegedly assaulting a young girl on Tucumcari Drive in a bout of violence that has shocked the local community. Deputies from Constable Mark Herman's Office were dispatched to the 1600 block following a disturbance call on January 30. Upon arrival, they were met by a distressed juvenile girl who reported being physically attacked by Comfort Tokon, a name now facing severe legal consequences.
The incident, occurring during an intense verbal altercation, escalated to physical injury when Tokon purportedly used scissors and a belt as instruments of assault. The juvenile victim sustained pain and visible injury in the encounter, as reported by Constable Herman's Office. Struggling to make sense of the horrific event, the community grapples with the safety of its youngest members.
Authorities acted swiftly in the wake of the assault, alerting Child Protection Services to the incident and ensuring the juvenile's welfare. The details of the case were relayed so as to inform the subsequent protective proceedings.
Following the investigation, "Comfort Tokon was arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail, charged with Injury to a Child," according to an official statement made by Constable Herman's Office. The courts have placed the accused behind bars with a bond set at $10,000.00, awaiting trial in the 338th District Court. With the legal gears now in motion, a canvas of justice begins to unfold, painting a picture of accountability.
