Houston Braces for Foggy Mornings and Severe Weather Threat Midweek According to National Weather ServiceSource: X/NWS Houston

As Houston residents start their week, they must navigate through patchy morning fog before enjoying the mostly sunny skies forecasted for the area, according to the National Weather Service. The detailed forecast indicates that today, visibility might be restricted before 10 am with the fog lifting to reveal sunny conditions and a pleasant high of around 75 degrees. The calm before the storm, tonight's partly cloudy sky with a gentle south wind will give way to more fog after 2 am, and a low hovering around 58.

However, things take a turn midweek as The National Weather Service's Storm Prediction Center warns of potential severe weather lurking around the corner. Per their latest convective outlook, "Isolated thunderstorms potentially capable of severe hail are possible late night Wednesday over mainly southeast Kansas and southwest Missouri." These conditions are courtesy of a mid-level atmospheric disturbance headed towards Oklahoma and Arkansas by early Thursday morning.

Fog continues to be a theme this week. A Dense Fog Advisory issued by the NWS held firm until 9 AM for parts of southeast Texas. This advisory came with a caution that visibilities could drop to a quarter-mile or less in impacted areas. The advisory has since been lifted and extended into Colorado County, including the Columbus and Eagle Lake areas. While the advisory is no longer in place, commuters were advised to remain vigilant as they may encounter patches of fog, as revealed by an NWS post. The area's temperature is expected to stay comfortably in the mid-70s during the day, dipping to the high 50s to low 60s at night through the weekend.

Looking ahead, the latter part of the week promises more stable conditions, with Thursday and Friday seeing partly sunny to sunny skies, and high temperatures trending in the mid to high-70s, according to the National Weather Service forecast. The breezy and partly sunny Monday on the horizon teases a high near 80, a subtle hint that spring may just be flexing its imminent arrival.
