Houston residents can expect a cloudy cocktail of showers and thunderstorms over the coming days. Starting tonight, the chance of precipitation ratchets up, persisting right through to next Monday, with the weekend looking particularly soggy, according to the National Weather Service.
Today's forecast anticipates an overcast sky, leading to a 20 percent chance of rain after the early hours of 4 AM, as mentioned on Houston's Weather Forecast. Those odds continue to rise to 40 percent by Thursday afternoon, bringing showers mostly after 1 PM and then again before nightfall.
Friday will see a slight dip in the chances of rain and thunderstorms, estimated at 20 percent after the afternoon, but ramping up to 60 percent on Saturday, mostly post-lunchtime. Sunday isn't spared, with forecasters warning of a 70 percent likelihood of storms, a prediction underscored in a post by NWS Houston on X.
While the severe weather isn't on the menu, the National Weather Service's Storm Prediction Center from Norman, OK has noted that general thunderstorms may rattle the upper Mississippi Valley come Thursday. "A few general thunderstorms may occur over the upper Mississippi Valley on Thursday. Severe weather is unlikely," states the NWS Storm Prediction Center.
Ahead of the impending cold front, temperatures in Houston will toast slightly only to be chilled down in the front's wake. For those counting on a sunny reprieve, the earliest signs of clear skies peek through Monday, climaxing in a sunny Tuesday with a high near 62 degrees.
