Flames ripped through a house in the Greater Greenspoint area in the dead of night last week, with Houston firefighters rushing to the scene to battle the blaze. The fire erupted on February 17th at a residence on the 14900 block of Nickerson Ln. The house was ablaze shortly before 1 a.m., and the Houston Fire Department arrived promptly to tackle the emergency.
According to the official report, there were no injuries reported in the incident. Firefighters managed to save an estimated $102,000 worth of property, but the flames still inflicted about $80,000 in damage.
The response team, including units from Stations 84, 31, 64, 58, 67, 74, and 34, arrived within six minutes of the call. They were faced with smoke billowing from the single-story residence and made quick work to enter the home, extinguish the fire, and ensure no one was trapped inside. After extinguishing the fire, the structure was secured and ventilated, and the utility services were promptly turned off to prevent any further hazards.
As of now, the incident remains under investigation, with initial signs pointing towards an accidental start. HFD Arson investigators have been brought in for a thorough examination of the fire's origin. Their findings will shed light on what ignited the destructive attic fire that summoned a total of 33 personnel to the scene.
