A 19-year-old man has been charged with aggravated assault with serious bodily injury after a shooting at a taco truck in Houston last year, authorities said.

The suspect, identified as Jeremy Scott Hartman, was arrested on February 8 on an unrelated charge before being linked to the November 2022 incident that left another 19-year-old man critically injured, according to the City of Houston News. That evening, around 9:40 p.m. at 8700 South Braeswood Boulevard, officers discovered the victim with a gunshot wound inside a taco truck, the gunshots had reportedly come from a dark gray, four-door Cadillac that fled the scene.

After weeks of investigation, aided by public tips, Hartman emerged as the potential suspect. "HPD Major Assaults detectives identified Hartman as a possible suspect," the Houston Police Department's Major Assaults & Family Violence Division stated. As detectives delved deeper, they confirmed Hartman's involvement.

Surveillance photos of the suspect vehicle were released on November 8, intensifying the scrutiny on the case. Hartman has since been charged in the 178th State District Court, while the victim remains hospitalized in serious condition. "The Harris County District Attorney’s Office was contacted and Hartman was subsequently charged.in this case," the division disclosed, indicating a collaborative effort between law enforcement and the district attorney's office to secure the charge.
