A Houston man has been slapped with murder charges after a deadly shooting that left one man dead and another injured last week.
Schwin Rashad Hadnot, 36, has been arrested and charged to quickly help close the case involving the fatal incident that occurred at approximately 1:10 a.m. on January 24, at 9923 Valley Club Drive, according to an announcement released earlier this week. Facing murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon charges in the 177th State District Court, Hadnot's arrest was a key turn in the investigation.
As reported on City of Houston News, the deceased has been identified as Roger Boutte,40. Responding officers had found him lifeless in the driveway with multiple gunshot wounds. The Houston Fire Department paramedics declared Boutte dead at the scene. A second male victim, aged 41, was also discovered with a gunshot wound and transported to a local hospital, where he remains in stable condition.
The night's events seemed to spiral out of control when an allegedly intoxicated Hadnot, who was suspected to have been with the victims prior to the shootings, was also found in need of immediate medical attention and was taken to the hospital, purportedly under the influence of an unknown substance, as per City of Houston News.
HPD Homicide Division's Sergeant K. Meek and Detective S. Overstreet, who have been thoroughly investigating the crime, led the efforts that subsequently identified Hadnot as the prime suspect. Their investigation laid the groundwork for the district attorney's office to issue the arrest, which quickly followed Hadnot's discharge from the hospital.
