Tragedy struck a Houston parking lot on Tuesday evening when an 18-month-old girl was killed after being hit by a vehicle, as confirmed by Houston police. The incident took place in the 5900 block of Guhn at approximately 6:30 p.m. FOX 26 Houston reported that the driver, while entering the back side of the lot, hit the young child who was playing there, unbeknownst to them.

According to the officials, upon striking the child, the driver felt an bump and stopped immediately to check the cause. What they discovered was the child on the ground and they began rendering aid while calling for emergency services. The child was transported to a hospital but sadly did not survive her injuries. The Houston Police Department also confirmed via X that the child was declared deceased at the medical facility.

 

 

The driver involved in this harrowing incident remained at the scene and is said to be cooperating with the ongoing investigation. Houston police have also indicated that there were no signs of intoxication from the driver. This information suggests an absence of immediate criminal culpability, but the investigation into the events is continuing. No charges have been filed at this time and the identity of the child has not been released pending family notification.
