
Tragedy struck Irvine when a motorcycle crash claimed the life of one man and left another in critical condition early this morning. The incident occurred at 2:21 a.m. on Shady Canyon Drive near Quail Hill Parkway. The two men were aboard a Yamaha motorcycle when they reportedly lost control before a roundabout and crashed into the landscaping, according to the Irvine Police Department.
Jotham Daniel Gant, 23, of Irvine has been named as the deceased victim in the unfortunate accident. The surviving rider, a 20-year-old man whose identity has not been disclosed, was transported to the hospital and is currently fighting for his life. The Irvine Police revealed neither man was wearing a helmet at the time of the incident, adding a grim detail to an already somber story.
The response from emergency services was swift, with both Irvine Police units and the Orange County Fire Authority attending to the scene. Investigators are actively piecing together the events that led to the motorcycle losing control and are determining which of the two riders was operating the vehicle at the time of the crash, as reported by the Irvine Police Department.
