Big plans and icy treats could be coming to Keller if the Planning & Zoning Commission gives the green light at their upcoming meeting. Slated for February 27th, the Commission will hold public hearings on a trio of proposals that could reshape pockets of the cityscape. Among the developments on the docket are a Specific Use Permit for a seasonal sno-cone vendor and a medical office hoping to make camp in an Old Town Keller structure, according to the City of Keller.
Folks looking to beat the Texas heat might flock to The Tiki Hut of Keller if Cathy Smith's request to dish out sno-cones at 705 S. Main St. passes muster. Smith is seeking an SUP to operate on an approximately half-acre plot. Todd Hendricks, the property owner, is betting on sweet treats to draw crowds to the east side of South Main Street. Meanwhile, David Simmons, who owns a piece of history on Taylor Street, is hoping Cary Stillwell's application to transform the existing 1,260-square-foot space into an office or medical facility isn’t just a shot in the dark.
Not everything on the table is as small scale. Ruibal Properties LLC has its sights set on a large chunk of the city, pushing to rezone around 17.52 acres to accommodate a Planned Development-Retail hub. If successful, this could roll out significant changes across several addresses including 1863 and 1823 Keller Parkway, and a few plots lining Pearson Crossing and Johnson Road. The hearings, all vital pieces of Keller's future cityscape puzzle, start sharply at 7 p.m. in the Council Chambers of Keller Town Hall, located for the time being at 1100 Bear Creek Pkwy.
Those looking for more info or wanting to weigh in on these potential changes have been directed to reach out to the Community Development department. Concerned citizens or curious onlookers can contact the department at 817-743-4130. Keeping things transparent and open for public input underscores the city's commitment to giving everyone a voice in how their neighborhood evolves. Should these proposals pass, Keller could see an interesting mix of quaint medical spaces, retail revamps, and syrupy snow cups painting the town’s burgeoning corners.
