
A pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle in Lake Elsinore on Saturday night, authorities reported. According to a statement from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, the accident occurred at 11:59 p.m., prompting a response from local deputies and Cal Fire rescue personnel.
The law enforcement and emergency teams discovered a pedestrian lying on the road, sustaining major injuries from the collision. Lifesaving attempts were made at the scene, however, the individual was pronounced dead shortly thereafter. The identity of the deceased has not been released, pending notification of next of kin. Meanwhile, officials have stated that the driver involved in the fatal incident cooperated fully with their initial investigation.
Sergeant Brad Foster of the Lake Elsinore Sheriff’s Station confirmed an investigation is ongoing to ascertain the specific circumstances of the crash. The Traffic unit of the station is handling the case, with initial findings suggesting that neither alcohol nor drugs were contributing factors.
