Arlington's latest attraction, the Loews Arlington Hotel and Convention Center, has officially opened its doors. Located in the heart of the Entertainment District, a stone's throw from Globe Life Field, the hotel began welcoming guests on Tuesday after a grand ribbon-cutting ceremony.
This sprawling complex boasts 888 rooms and a plethora of amenities, including five restaurants and lounges, and two pools complete with a sandy beach and a water slide. With a hefty 266,000 square feet of event space, Loews Arlington aims to cater not only to tourists but also to corporate events and conventions, according to information from a FOX 4 News report. The $550 million project, which has been in development since 2021, marks Loews' second investment in the city, the first being Live! by Loews.
In attendance at the inaugural event were key figures, including Neil Leibman, president of business operations and chief operating officer for the Texas Rangers, who hailed the hotel as "the crown jewel of the Arlington district." Mayor Jim Ross also graced the occasion, lauding it as part of the city's broader plan to stand out as an epicenter of leisure and culture. The mayor's spirited speech, reveling in the city's momentum, was a highlight—further emphasized by his proclamation, "If you can’t get excited about things going on here, I don’t know what in the world will excite you", as per The Shorthorn.
The opening festivities were punctuated by remarks from Loews Hotels CEO Johathan Tisch, who, in addition to expressing gratitude, emphasized the bright future ahead for the city. "We thank you for joining us in this vision, and we are so fortunate to be a part of a very bright future in Arlington, Texas," Tisch told the gathering, as narrated by The Shorthorn. Following the ceremony, the hotel announced that it was not only fully booked for the night but also for the ensuing week.
Furthermore, the City of Arlington seems committed to Loews Hotels as a partner in its growth, having recently approved another $410 million hotel project to revamp the Sheraton Arlington Hotel. With Tisch's words ringing in their ears, "We ain’t done. We are not done building this entertainment district, we are not done building Arlington," it seems clear that this hotel inauguration is just the beginning of more developments to come, per The Shorthorn.
