A man was nabbed for swiping over a hundred dollars worth of goods from a Lowe's in North Houston, law enforcement officials said. Deputies from Constable Mark Herman's Office arrived at the hardware store located in the 20200 block of the North Freeway on February 15, after they were alerted to a shoplifting incident. The man, identified as Jose Casillas, allegedly tried to stealthily slip out with the merchandise before he was caught.

Officials reported that Casillas managed to discreetly conceal items valued at just over $123 and proceeded to nonchalantly walk past the cash registers. However, his attempt to quietly make off with the goods was quickly thwarted. Constable Deputies were able to locate Casillas, recover the merchandise and promptly return it to the business.

"Jose Casillas was arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail, charged with Theft. His bond was set at $100.00 out of County Court 10," Constable Mark Herman stated in a release shared on social media. The arrest highlights ongoing efforts to combat retail theft which, according to law enforcement officers, places a strain not only on local businesses but also on the community as it can lead to higher prices and lost jobs.

The incident, affirmed by a post on Constable's official Facebook page, serves as a reminder that even seemingly minor thefts are taken seriously by authorities. Casillas now faces consequences for his actions which could potentially include fines, community service, or jail time. The justice system will proceed to rigorously apply the law to ensure that thefts like these are justly penalized.
