According to the 13 ON YOUR SIDE, the deputies tried to stop the driver as he was in the area for a separate traffic-related investigation. The chase ensued into Kent County after the motorist, driving a Pontiac Grand Prix, attempted to hit a deputy's patrol vehicle head-on and failed to comply with their commands to stop.
The pursuit ended without further incident near a Home Depot off Wilson Avenue and 44th Street in Kent County where the driver was apprehended. Fortunately, there were no injuries or property damage reported during this incident. The man was subsequently lodged in the Ottawa County Jail awaiting multiple charges.
Details about the charges and the circumstances leading up to the attempt to ram the sheriff's cruiser remain scant.
