A man was convicted for a fatal shooting that took place at an Oakland County hotel in 2021. The jury found Christian Amari Johnson guilty after a trial where 26 witnesses were called to testify, as reported by FOX 2 Detroit.
According to ClickOnDetroit, Johnson, 22, was charged with felony murder, assault with intent to murder, and two felony firearm violations. The jury deliberated for about an hour on February 14, 2024, before deciding to quickly find him guilty on all counts. He is set to be sentenced on March 18.
Alongside Johnson was co-defendant Aurelius Juan Williams, who entered a no-contest plea to assault with intent to murder and involuntary manslaughter last month. "I hope this verdict brings the victims' and their loved ones some sense of closure," Oakland County Prosecutor Karen McDonald said, in a statement obtained by Oakland County, Michigan. Williams is scheduled for sentencing on February 16, 2024.
