Manhunt Launches for Ex-Employee Suspected of iPhone Theft and Identity FraudSource: Facebook/Mark Herman, Harris County Constable Precinct 4

A manhunt is underway for a former shipping employee accused of pilfering a pricey iPhone and dabbling in identity theft, officials say. Albert Padilla, a worker tasked with preparing an iPhone for shipment, apparently had other plans for the electronic device – plans that landed him in hot water with the law.

Investigators rolled up their sleeves on February 15 and dug into the details behind the missing gadget after deputies from Constable Mark Herman's Criminal Investigations Division stepped in. It didn't take long for them to sniff out the trail leading to Padilla, who rather brazenly sold the phone at a local Gamestop, according to a facebook post by the Constable Mark Herman's Office. The missteps didn't end there. It seems Mr. Padilla was hoarding more than just high-tech swag. During the investigation, law enforcement uncovered that he was allegedly in possession of various identification cards and personal information belonging to different victims, with intentions of using them unlawfully.

The list of charges facing Padilla stacks up to be a serious affair; he's wanted for Felony Theft, Fraudulent Use of Identifying Information, and Tampering with a Government Document. There's no word yet on his bond, which awaits determination by the 337 District Court. The Constable is clear: anyone with a bead on Padilla's location should come forward and contact dispatch or the nearest law enforcement agency. "Albert Padilla is currently wanted by law enforcement for Felony Theft, Fraudulent Use of Identifying Information and Tampering with a Government Document," Constable Mark Herman stated firmly.
