A massive haul of over 1.5 million dollars in stolen goods was seized by the Moreno Valley Sheriff's Special Enforcement Team, putting the brakes on a multi-state organized retail crime and trailer cargo theft ring. The bust went down on February 16, when deputies swooped on a storefront on East Florida Avenue in Hemet, as reported by the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.
In a scene right out of a heist movie, over 200 pallets of purloined merchandise, including everything from high-end electronics to essential baby goods, were found packed in the lair. Found parked at the scene, a semi-truck and stolen trailer, suspected to have been instruments of the illicit operation, were recovered with their troves of booty. The Moreno Valley SET's determined investigation, launched just ten days prior, culminated in this significant recovery and the arrest of two suspects from Hemet, detailed by the Sheriff's Department.
Arrested at the scene, 24-year-old Amritpal Singh and 24-year-old Jagdeep Singh Singh now face charges of grand theft and possession of stolen property. The duo was booked at the Robert Presley Detention Center, their future now in the hands of the justice system. The ongoing investigation has left officers tight-lipped, with few additional details available and the Riverside County Sheriff soliciting tips from the public to aid their efforts, as per the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.
Authorities are calling on the community to step forward with any further information regarding this extensive crime ring. Those with knowledge are urged to contact Deputy Keeney, as the search continues for other possible accomplices or additional stolen merchandise caches. The Sheriff's Department's appeal hopes to draw out threads that may lead to further unravelling of criminal endeavors in the Southland's underbelly.
