A horrific traffic accident in Rancho Cucamonga claimed the life of a local woman last Wednesday. Law enforcement and emergency responders were called to the intersection of 6th Street and Hermosa Avenue at around 5:25 PM, where a fatal collision had taken place.
Details provided by the San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner Department reveal a black Nissan Rogue, driven by 37-year-old Estevan Amador of Rancho Cucamonga, was in the midst of a left turn onto 6th Street when a black Mercedes CLS 550, operated by 57-year-old Melissa Nguyen also from Rancho Cucamonga, came barreling north, the vehicles collided with such might, the Nissan was sent careening into a traffic signal pole. The impact was catastrophic and claimed the life of an unidentified 34-year-old woman, who was riding as a passenger in Amador's car.
Paramedics from the Rancho Cucamonga Fire Department immediately attended to the victims but despite their valiant efforts, the woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Both drivers, along with another passenger from the Nissan Rogue, were transported with non-life-threatening injuries to Pomona Valley Hospital by American Medical Response teams shortly after the tragedy unfolded.
Rancho Cucamonga Major Accident Investigation Team's Deputies Magdaleno and Villalobos took charge of the scene and are currently working to piece together the events that led to the accident, while the intersection remained a sprawl of flashing lights and somber faces as investigators document the remnants of yet another day punched through by the random violence of the road.
