In a bid to spark a wave of water conservation this spring, the City of Round Rock has rolled out a rain barrel discount initiative. The Water Conservation Program is now offering 50-gallon rain barrels at nearly half their regular retail price, a deal available to the wider community, not just local residents. According to the city’s official announcement, eco-conscious customers have from now until March 25 to pre-order these barrels online, ensuring they have a chance to gather valuable rain for less.
By slashing the price down to $77.50 per barrel, Round Rock is keen to incentivize folks not only to save water but also to save some green. Round Rock dwellers who already pay for city water are privy to further savings—a sweet rebate opportunity that could slice their total to a mere $52.40 post-rebate. As reported by the City of Round Rock, this is a significant deduction from the standard $146.99 price tag.
These eco-friendly investments can be snagged online at rainbarrelprogram.org/roundrock, where customers are free to order as many barrels as they please, limited only by the eventual depletion of stocks. For those pondering the logistics, a barrel is designed compactly enough to snuggly fit into the back of a typical 4-door sedan or hatchback.
Those who take the plunge and purchase a barrel can expect to retrieve their goods on April 6, between the hours of 9 a.m. and 1 p.m., at the Bob Bennett Building. Full details about the pickup process will hastily be emailed out, says Jessica Woods, who can be reached for more information regarding these conservation efforts and related rebates at [email protected] or via a call to 512-671-2872.
Round Rock's strategy seems to be a harmonious blend of financial savvy and environmental stewardship. By easing the fiscal burden of water conservation on its citizens, the city is seeding an investment in the future.
