Marin County's routine traffic stop on February 12 led to the arrest of a convicted felon found in possession of drugs, an illegal firearm, and ammunition, authorities reported. Marin County Sheriff's Office said a deputy spotted a vehicle with an equipment violation in Southern Marin and pulled it over. The driver, initially giving a fake name to the deputy, was later identified as Joshua Hall, a San Rafael resident with no less than two outstanding no-bail warrants.
After the discovery of his true identity, Hall's legal troubles multiplied. In addition to the warrants for driving without a license and violating probation, he was found in possession of a large amount of processed marijuana, marijuana concentrates, cash, along with a scale and small bags typically associated with drug sales. To exacerbate matters, Hall was caught with an un-serialized P80 9mm handgun with a loaded large capacity magazine, the Marin County Sheriff's Office reported.
As a convicted felon, Hall is legally prohibited from owning firearms or ammunition. The search, executed based on Hall’s 4th Amendment Waiver as a condition of his probation allowed deputies to locate and seize the contraband. He was consequently arrested and booked into the Marin County Jail facing a slew of charges including those connected to the illegal firearm, narcotics, and disregarding the conditions of his probation.
The charges include false identification to a police officer, possession and transport of marijuana for sales, felon in possession of a firearm, ammunition, an un-serialized firearm, and a large capacity magazine,. Added to those were charges for driving with a suspended license and violating probation.
