A tragic incident unfolded on a Kent highway when a man was struck and killed by a vehicle. The collision occurred on Pacific Highway South near S 244th Street at approximately 8:22 p.m. on Monday, authorities reported. A 56-year-old Seattle man died at the scene after being hit.

Authorities quickly arrived on-site after several 911 calls reported a person lying on the road. According to FOX 13 Seattle, witnesses told police the man stepped onto the northbound Pacific Highway and was subsequently hit by the car. The 19-year-old female driver of the vehicle stayed and is said to have cooperated with the investigation. The early investigation has led police to initially rule out drugs and alcohol as contributing factors.

Both Kent Patrol Officers and Puget Sound Regional Authority Firefighters responded to the emergency. As per The Waterland Blog, they located the Seattle man deceased in the roadway, having succumbed to his injuries. Eyewitnesses noticed the man stepping into traffic just before the collision.

Kent Police released a statement following the event, which was detailed by The Kent Reporter, indicating that the man was found in the road just south of Dick’s Drive-In on the West Hill of Kent. The driver of the car, the young woman, remained at the collision site and has cooperated with law enforcement to continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding this fatal encounter.
