Seattle's Beacon Hill neighborhood is gearing up for some fun, as Seattle Parks and Recreation (SPR) unveils the revamped Dearborn Park play area with a community celebration. Set for February 29, from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m., the event promises music, light refreshments, and the ceremonial snip of the ribbon. The newly renovated space is nestled among the trees, just a stone's throw from Dearborn Park International School and east of Martin Luther King Jr. Way S.
"We are excited to deliver a more accessible renovated play area and gathering space that will foster a thriving and healthy community," said AP Diaz, Seattle Parks and Recreation Superintendent, according to the official announcement from SPR. The project, shaped by public input, aims to provide a spot for locals to play and socialize.
Dearborn Park's facelift is more than just new swings and slides, it's about creating an urban sanctuary where friendships blossom and families bond. Located at 2919 S Brandon St., it serves as a backdrop for children's laughter and neighborly chats. The Dearborn Park International School PTA has teamed up with SPR for the ribbon-cutting event, symbolizing the collaborative spirit that has driven the park's transformation.
The opening bash is not just a nod to the park's enhancements, but a testament to the community's involvement and the emphasis on accessibility. "Thank you to everyone who participated in the public process, and helped shape this wonderful urban oasis. It is truly a place to play amongst the trees and meet your neighbors," Diaz exclaimed. Residents of Beacon Hill and beyond are invited to leap into the celebration and experience the outcome of their collective vision.
