Seattle's youngest residents could soon have more places to learn and play. Seattle Parks and Recreation (SPR) is actively looking for early childhood education programs to take up residence at the historic Madison Park Bathhouse and Victory Heights Shelter House. SPR announced that they are seeking partners to manage these two facilities under a five-year contract starting in September 2024, with the possibility to extend another five years.
With a strong belief that early childhood education is critical for the development of Seattle's youth, SPR intends to substantially grow the offerings for tots and their families. Non-profit organizations that want to get involved have until March 13, 2024, by 3 pm to submit their Letters of Interest. Women and minority business owners especially are nudged to join in, as stated on SPR's official website.
The Madison Park Bathhouse, an institution since 1919, is nestled on Lake Washington's shores and surrounded by a vibrant community mix of commerce and residents. The site doesn't feature its own parking, but street parking is abundant for those looking to take advantage of the facility. Its partner in this initiative, Victory Heights Shelter House, also awaits new life as an educational hub.
These efforts by SPR reflect a citywide commitment to early education and community engagement. By broadening the pool to welcome underrepresented business owners, SPR seems to distinctly acknowledge the diverse fabric of Seattle's population. For full application details, interested parties are directed to review the guidelines and contact Kathleen Gantz or Pamela Wilson via the email addresses provided on the Parks and Recreation notice.
