Burger aficionados, get your appetites ready because Shake Shack is bringing its iconic burgers and shakes to Santa Rosa. The New York City-based fast food chain, known for dishing out some of the most sought-after burgers in the biz, is slated to open its doors in Montgomery Village on an unexpected date: Thursday, Feb. 29—a leap year anomaly—according to a report from Sonoma Magazine.

The upcoming grand opening has been the talk of the town since early last year, and, Shake Shack's debut in Wine Country promises a menu with some local flair—a nod to the Bay Area, including the exclusive Golden State Double burger. Brittany Mundarain, General Manager of Montgomery Village, told Sonoma Magazine, “Our community has been buzzing about the impending opening since it was announced early last year. We can’t wait to welcome everyone at this long-awaited grand opening.”

The fast-casual eatery is not just about satiating hunger, it's also giving back to the community. On Feb. 28, a day before the official launch, Shake Shack will donate $1 from every sandwich sold to the Redwood Empire Food Bank. Moreover, during the opening days on Feb. 28 and 29, customers can also drop off non-perishable food items at the restaurant for the food bank’s ‘Spread the Love’ food drive, KRON4 reported.

Beyond philanthropy, the first 100 shake buyers on grand opening day will receive a Sonoma County-branded Shake Shack tumbler, a collectible incentive that's sure to draw fans early to the 2424 Magowan Drive location. According to the same KRON4 news piece, this event is set to start at 11 a.m., turning the day into quite the celebration for Shake Shack devotees and newcomers alike. The Montgomery Village Shake Shack will, serve customers from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily, seamlessly blending into the local dining scene.

Shake Shack has grown from its original park kiosk in Manhattan to boasting over 500 locations in 18 countries and 33 states, raking in over $1 billion in revenue. The Santa Rosa outpost marks the brand's penetration further into the California market, rivaling other fast-food favorites and aiming to capture the hearts, and stomachs, of the Golden State's discerning burger lovers.
