A Michigan man has been taken into custody after a shocking display of road rage, during which he allegedly donned a ski mask and pointed a gun with a laser sight at another driver. The unsettling episode occurred on I-75 near Southfield Road in Wayne County, prompting state police to intervene Tuesday morning.
According to FOX 2 Detroit, the victim was heading north when he became embroiled in a confrontation with the aggressor, who was behind the wheel of a Chevrolet Malibu. The victim reported seeing a laser point at his rearview mirror before the masked figure brandished the firearm from his vehicle window.
The swift response of the Michigan State Police led to the apprehension of a 32-year-old subject from Taylor. Upon his arrest, law enforcement found not only the pistol in question but also an extended 9 mm magazine, a 16-round 9 mm magazine, and body armor, ClickOnDetroit reports. The suspect's identity has not yet been released to the public.
Michigan State Police F/Lt Mike Shaw praised his team's efforts, stating, "This was outstanding work by troopers to get this dangerous suspect and his firearm off the street." In a statement obtained by The Detroit News, Shaw further advised drivers, "I want to remind drivers to not engage with those drivers that appear to show signs of rage. Call 911 and let police deal with these drivers."
