Wanted Fugitive Markus Alexander-Henderson Apprehended in Douglas County After Extensive ManhuntSource: Douglas County Sheriff’s Office

A nearly year-long manhunt came to a close in Douglas County with the arrest of Markus Alexander-Henderson, a fugitive wanted for aggravated assault among other charges. The Douglas County Sheriff's Office reported the apprehension took place on Feb. 21 when officers from the Fugitive Unit tracked down the suspect.

After Alexander-Henderson was observed leaving a suspected location, law enforcement moved in, noted FOX 5 Atlanta. A member of Sheriff Pounds' SCORPION Unit made an attempt to halt his vehicle, however, the suspect did not comply, and a pursuit began. This chase was brief, as Alexander-Henderson soon exited his vehicle and attempted to flee on foot.

Douglasville Police Department officers collaborated to establish a perimeter, which eventually led to the capture of Alexander-Henderson in a wooded area near McKown and Riley Roads, according to information provided by Atlanta News First. Alongside the local charges, the fugitive was also wanted in Atlanta for multiple felonies.

The arrest followed a failed traffic stop operation by deputies in the county, hinting at the aggressive approach that local law enforcement has taken to apprehend individuals who pose a threat to community safety. As the Sheriff's Office stated, the collaboration among the different departments played a crucial role in the successful capture of Alexander-Henderson.
