In a shocking encounter at a Palm City pepper farm, a farm worker was left reeling after a skirmish with a 9-foot alligator. The Martin County Sheriff’s Office reported that the laborer, focused on his work on 96th Street, didn’t notice the sizable reptile until it was too late. According to CBS12, the alligator aggressively bit into the man’s thigh.
Miraculously, the individual managed to escape the gator's grip, however, not before sustaining significant injuries. The Martin County Sheriff's Office stated, "The man was able to break free and get away, but not without significant injury." A subsequent report by Local10 detailed that the worker was swiftly taken to a nearby hospital to receive medical attention for the bite wounds inflicted by the alligator, thankfully determined to be non-life-threatening.
Officials have since located and removed the 9-foot, 4-inch gator from the area, ensuring that no further threats were posed to those working on the farm. The incident serves as a stark reminder of the ever-present dangers of Florida’s native wildlife, especially in areas where human activity intersects with natural habitats.
