The first incident occurred late Saturday night at Groesbeck and 11 Mile Road, where a driver was ejected from their vehicle and killed, as reported by FOX 2 Detroit. The wave of misfortune continued into yesterday afternoon at the busy intersection of 10 Mile and Ryan roads. Here, two black Honda Accords collided horrendously, resulting in one man dead at the scene and another critically injured. A member of Warren's police force stated the second vehicle involved was attempting to enter a Tim Hortons parking lot when it was struck by the first, as reported by The Detroit News.
Authorities have ruled out drugs and alcohol as contributing factors in both collisions. An ongoing investigation involves canvassing for witnesses and additional video evidence. In the wake of these events, Police Commissioner William Dwyer referred to the back-to-back crashes as "very remarkable," and emphasized the sorrow that these "horrible" tragedies brought upon the community.
