The White Settlement Police Department just got a major salute for its support of veterans. The department, under the directive of Chief Cook, has recently been recognized as a "We Hire Vets" employer. The recognition—certified by both the Texas Workforce Commission and the Texas Veterans Commission—underscores the department's commitment to veterans, including its own Police Chief.
"This is a great honor to receive this employer recognition today," Chief Cook said, as per the White Settlement Police Department. He went on to firmly commit, "On behalf of our grateful nation, we will continue to actively look for opportunities in our workplace to support veterans with employment." The department boasts many veterans among its ranks and is proactive in its outreach, regularly scouting Naval Air Station for retiring active duty members to recruit.
The new accolade is more than just a formal nod to the department's policies. It serves as a testament to the active efforts made to ensure that veterans find a place within the civilian workforce. This policy not only honors the service of veterans but also enriches the police force with their unique skills and perspectives.
Veterans bring a wealth of experience and discipline to any organization and recognizing those who make it a point to welcome them into their workforce is essential. The "We Hire Vets" program is a small token of appreciation for those transitioning from military to civilian life, aiming to serve once again, this time in their local communities. The White Settlement Police Department's commitment to this cause has now been officially recognized, allowing them to prominently bear the honor of being a veteran-friendly employer.
