Windsor Police put a trio of drivers in the hot seat over Super Bowl Weekend, slapping them with DUIs and sending a sober warning to the town. As the nation tuned in to the annual gridiron showdown, local law enforcement was keeping a watchful eye on the road, ready to call foul on impaired driving.
The scorecard from February 10 and 11 shows that the game isn’t only played on the field. "We are committed to taking impaired drivers off the road," Police Chief Mike Raasch stated. The message is clear: Driving under the influence is more than just a party foul—it can cost a first-time offender an average of $13,500 in fines and penalties, not to mention a benched driver's license.
According to a Facebook post by the Town of Windsor Police Department, this blitz on drunk driving is not a one-time event. Residents should expect to see more DUI enforcement patrols throughout the year in a persistent effort to keep the streets safer for everyone.
These patrols aren't just a shot in the dark. They are funded by California gridiron—through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
