A woman was arrested last Thursday after causing a disturbance inside a Ypsilanti Kroger store, reportedly wielding a machete. The incident, which occurred at the grocery store located at 2110 Whittaker Road, began just after 4 p.m.
The Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office said that, the woman entered the store and started swinging the blade in the liquor section, prompting a shutdown of the store for a period. Despite the potential danger, deputies confirmed that no one was attacked and there were no injuries resulting from the incident. "No people were attacked, and no one was injured during the incident," a representative informed FOX 2 Detroit.
Law enforcement swiftly responded to the situation and the woman was apprehended without resistance. Following the arrest, it was revealed that the woman was experiencing a mental health crisis at the time of the event. WWJ Newsradio reported, "law enforcement said the women was experiencing a mental health crisis and did not attack anyone."
Details regarding the identity of the woman and the specifics of the mental health crisis have not been released by the authorities, as the case remains under investigation. Officers reiterated that the incident was contained without injury or physical confrontation, "The woman did not attack anyone and there were no injuries in the incident," per a report by patch.
