In commemoration of Women's History Month, the Arlington Public Library has rolled out a series of events designed to highlight the impact of women through the ages. A detailed schedule mentioned in the City of Arlington, Texas invites the community to celebrate the various roles women have played in shaping the world as we know it.
Kicking things off, the Ron Wright Lake Arlington Branch Library has unveiled an engaging scavenger hunt running until March 16. Targeting both the young and the young at heart, the hunt promises to shine a light on the achievements of quintessential women throughout history. Following suit, the same branch is orchestrating a special family storytime on March 4, dedicated to showcasing 'Girl Power,' as reported by the City of Arlington, Texas. Slated for toddlers, this event will employ a mix of stories, rhymes, and songs to impart powerful tales of female strength.
Music will take center stage on select Thursdays in March with the Music 'n Motion Storytime at the Southwest Branch Library. Planned for children between the ages of 1 and 4, the storytime aims to celebrate Women's History Month through the melodies and mind-soothing sounds of artist Kira Willey.
As part of its month-long homage to women's achievements, the library also targets older demographics. On March 19, teens are expected to gather at the George W. Hawkes Downtown Library for a poetry workshop with a focus on seminal female poets. Additionally, embracing women's role in science, the library hosts an event shedding light on women's contributions to the world of STEM. During this event, set for March 26 at the Southeast Branch Library, kids will embark on an educational adventure under some parental guidance, according to details from the City of Arlington, Texas.
To cap off a month of celebration and education, Michelle Petties will end Women's History Month with a transformative session focused on wellness and self-image at the George W. Hawkes Downtown Library on March 30. Attendees will engage with the author in an interactive workshop that invites a profound reflection on personal relationships with food, based on the teachings in her book, "Leaving Large - The Stories of a Food Addict," with a chance to leave not just with newfound knowledge, but with a signed copy of her work as well.
