Austinites who've got a bone to pick with how their city is run, mark your calendars for a crucial town hall on March 7. The City's Charter Review Commission is rolling out the red carpet for public input on tweaking the Austin City Charter, folks can chime in either face-to-face or click away online.
Set to unfold at the Boards and Commissions Room located at 301 W 2nd St., the gathering kicks off at 5:30 p.m., and for those wanting to weigh in from the comfort of their couch, virtual participation is on the table—just be sure to register starting March 4, as publicized on the City's announcement. But if you're going in person, you can just show up, no sign-up is needed.
Earlier this season, the Charter Review Commission nabbed opinions via an online survey and previously hosted a hybrid town hall, laying out possible changes to the Charter and reeling in initial reactions from the crowd.
As the clock ticks down—with the commission expected to dish out their recommendations to the City Council by the end of March—this event is a prime chance for Austinites to have their say on what should change in the city's blueprint for the bureaucracy, according to the same City memo.
