In a shocking turn of events, a 17-year-old from Bexar County is facing murder charges after allegedly executing another teen in what was supposed to be a drug deal on New Year's Eve, as reported by KENS 5. The accused, identified as John Doerr, was arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of 17-year-old Jaden Perez; Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar detailed that the apparent drug deal was a ruse for robbery.

According to Sheriff Salazar, it appears the teen assailants never intended to conduct a legitimate transaction, instead planning to rob Perez of his money during this staged exchange Perez was shot once in the face, and his life ended prematurely in the 7100 block of Misty Ridge Drive near Converse in what was described as a brutal and calculated act.

The investigation unearthed more harrowing details as the sheriff revealed that Doerr, along with his associates, drove to the scene in a stolen SUV supposedly discussing a sale of narcotics to Perez—which was never their true intention, "Instead they were going to be robbing the victim of money," Salazar conveyed in a statement recorded by KEN5.

The scheme took a graver turn when a bullet fired by Doerr not only claimed Perez's life but also wounded a 15-year-old in the vehicle, the bullet passing through the minor before hitting Perez.

The aftermath of the shooting saw the group abandon the injured 15-year-old at a local hospital who survived the incident and could potentially face charges, discussions about selling drugs were merely a façade for an ulterior, more sinister plan Salazar pointed out that there might have been as many as five other individuals in the stolen SUV at the time of the shooting, all of whom could face charges as the investigation advances. The same night, Doerr found shelter at a residence near Fresno and Blanco, the stolen SUV later recovered by the San Antonio Police Department, as reported by KSAT.

Bexar County sheriff's deputies executed a consent search at the residence where Doerr stayed, during which they confiscated a weapon believed to be the one used in Perez's murder.
