Bucks County Anglers to Cast Lines at New Spots as Construction Alters Trout Stocking ScheduleSource: PA Fish and Boat Commission Bureau of Law Enforcement

Fishing enthusiasts in Bucks County will need to reel in their plans and map out some new fishing spots as the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission (PFBC) announced a shakeup in the trout stocking schedule. Due to ongoing construction at the Delaware Canal State Park reducing water levels, all trout stockings in the canal are off the table for 2024, leaving some anglers to find alternative fishing holes.

The detour in trout distribution is a direct result of several hefty construction projects conducted by the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources that have brought water levels down in the Delaware Canal's Section 03 and Section 05. The PFBC was forced to cancel trout stockings in those areas as a consequence, according to a from the PFBC on March 22.

To soften the blow for trout fishing aficionados, the PFBC has named new temporary additions to their Stocked Trout Waters lineup in Bucks County. Caroline Lake and The Giving Pond make the list, courtesy of the Bucks County Department of Parks and Recreation and the DCNR's Delaware Canal State Park, respectively. Additionally, the familiar Levittown Lake will see an uptick in its trout population this season.

With the opening day of the trout season on the horizon coming Saturday, April 6, anglers are being pointed to the PFBC's Trout Stocking Schedule for specific dates and times. According to the PFBC's announcement, the commission hopes these new sites will keep the anglers' spirits up and rods bending. So dust off those tackle boxes and update your fishing itinerary — Bucks County waters are still primed for the season's cast-and-catch.
