The Plano Police Department has seen a shift in leadership with the recent promotion of Curtis Howard as the Director of Neighborhood Services. After serving various roles since his start in 2011, Howard brings a multi-faceted expertise to the table, backed by his prior 14 years as a prosecutor with the Collin County Criminal District Attorney's Office, as per the Plano Texas Police Department.
Initially joining the Plano team as Senior Legal Advisor, Howard quickly established himself as a resourceful and strategic asset, then as Administrative Services Manager, a role he held since 2018 until assuming the position of interim director earlier this year, a move that underscored his readiness and aptitude for leadership, a quality not unnoticed by his peers or by LaShon Ross, Deputy City Manager, who remarked "We are extremely blessed to have someone of Curtis's caliber step into this role and be 'camera-ready,'" in what the Plano Texas Police Department's announcement referred to.
Howard's promotion to the Executive Team is a testament to his hard-earned skill set, which includes a significant tenure as a legal advisor and a knack for operational management, attributes that have earned him respect within the department and the community he serves.
The Plano Police Department has expressed its collective enthusiasm in witnessing the impact Howard will have in his new role, bringing with him a collaborative spirit and a steady hand to guide the neighborhood services forward—the neighborhood services that stand as a crucial element in the fabric of Plano's community, as was echoed in their public congratulatory message to Curtis Howard.
