The Dallas Police Department has issued their yearly reminder for residents to roll clocks one hour forward before hitting the pillow tonight. The shift is due to the onset of Daylight Saving Time that kicks in this Sunday, March 10.
In a move sure to briefly disrupt sleep patterns, the Dallas Police Department took to social media to ensure everyone is prepped to "spring forward". The post read, "Don't forget! Daylight Saving Time begins this Sunday, March 10th. Remember to set your clocks FORWARD one hour before you go to bed tonight. Let's spring forward together!" A reminder that, though welcomed by many for the extended evening daylight it provides, comes with the minor inconvenience of losing an hour of sleep.

The annual clock-changing ritual has long been a practice in the United States and several other countries around the globe. Its original intention was to make better use of daylight during the evenings and to conserve energy. However, its effectiveness and impact on health and lifestyle have often been debated.
While the extra dose of sunshine in the evening is a boon for some, sleep experts continually warn about the adjustment period for the body clock. Adjusting to the new schedule can sometimes be a tough sell to those already struggling to catch enough Z's. It's recommended to gradually adjust to the time change by going to bed earlier leading up to the switch.
