It's time to reel in some family fun this spring at Mesquite's City Lake Park. The community is gearing up for the annual Family Fish event on April 20, where anglers of all ages can cast their lines for a chance to catch the day's prized fish. According to an announcement from the City of Mesquite, Texas, the event will run from 9 a.m. to noon and is open to everyone at no cost.
The bait gets interesting as the event promises to offer special treats for early birds. The first 100 kids attending have been promised a free fishing rod, supplies permitting. However, participants should note that they will need to bring their bait, hooks, and fishing swag as these essentials will not be provided at the event.
The competition will be swimmingly fierce with both the smallest and the largest fish tournament. Prizes are on the line for those who can out-fish their peers. In the heart of the friendly competition, the event invites families to share in the excitement and perhaps even foster a new wave of fishing enthusiasts among the young ones.
Resting in the embrace of the Texas Parks & Wildlife Department's Neighborhood Fishin' program, City Lake Park is a well-known local spot for fishing, regularly stocked with catfish and rainbow trout throughout the year. Participating fishers at Family Fish are likely to find the water brimming with potential catches, ensuring that even amateurs can dream of landing something worthwhile.
