Fort Worth Expands PPE Donation Program to Include Nonprofits and Educators Amid SurplusSource: City of Fort Worth

Fort Worth City Council is doubling down on its efforts to distribute surplus personal protective equipment and hand sanitizer to local nonprofits, adding a new phase to its donation program due to an ongoing surplus. The initiative, which was initially approved back in June 2023 and wrapped up at the start of this year, is expanding to cover more ground and serve additional community organizations.

With a stockpile of masks and hand sanitizers still up for grabs, Fort Worth officials have commenced to swiftly include a broader array of eligible recipients. As of March 18, according to the City of Fort Worth, local nonprofits, chambers of commerce, as well as school educators, and staff that operate within city limits are among those invited to stake their claim for the PPE supplies. To get in on the action, stakeholders are to fill out an online form or shoot an email by March 25th to secure a piece of the protective equipment pie.

Dominoes will start to fall the week of April 1st when the City sets up pickup appointments for organizations to come collect their PPE at either City Hall or the City Hall Annex location. Yet not everyone may get their full request, as the city plans to dish out the gear on a first-come, first-serve basis. In the event there's PPE still left after everyone has had a go, Fort Worth promises to loop the public in on any additional phases of the program.
