In a move embracing second chances, the City of Fort Worth is setting up a court in the neighborhood, opening doors for citizens to square up with the law without the fear of cuffs. Scheduled for Saturday, March 23, the Court in the Community Warrant Forgiveness Event is an opportunity for locals with unpaid citations to clear their records, as reported by the City of Fort Worth. The event will run from 9 a.m. to noon at Saintsville Cathedral, located at 2200 Oakhill Road, offering first-come, first-served service to a cap of 120 participants — they just gotta be in line by the start time.
Tagged as a sanctuary for settling scores with justice, this initiative zeroes in on Class C misdemeanors like traffic and city ordinance violations held on file with the Fort Worth Municipal Court. Registrants might just snag deal sweeteners like community service or a fine cut if their wallets are wearing thin.
But it ain't just about clearing the slate legally; Fort Worth is throwing in some life-boosters as well. Legal Aid of NorthWest Texas will set up shop to sort out a gamut of civil legal woes, spanning family squabbles to tax troubles. On board too is Goodwill North Central Texas, equipped to dish out job advice and training, offering support that stretches beyond the courtroom.
The City isn't just stopping at legal advice and job aid. Those hitting a wall with rent and utilities or in need of job skills training can find an ally at the event, with the City of Fort Worth EnVision Center and Community Action Partner laying out the welcome mat. All services will be handed out first-come, first-served, ensuring fair shakes for early birds.
