Frank Kent Dream Park, a gem for families and kids within Trinity Park, is about to get a bit of a facelift starting next month—so you'll need to wait until May to enjoy the improvements. The entire playground is scheduled for a shutdown throughout April for major maintenance; this means new surfaces to play on, better turf, and other vital touch-ups to keep the place top-notch.
But don't think the work is being done at random, the chosen time coincides with a local festival, Mayfest, so the park needs to be closed anyway to gear up for the celebrations, so it's killing two birds with one stone – minimizing disruption while taking advantage of the mild temperatures needed to get the work done right.
Karen Stuhmer, a spokeswoman for the Park & Recreation Department, put it plainly: “While we understand the inconvenience this temporary closure may cause, it is essential for the long-term sustainability and enjoyment of Dream Park," per a report by the City of Fort Worth. The plan is to cut the ribbon on the new and improved Dream Park just in time for Mayfest, reopening to the community at large on May 9. Rockwood Park, not to mention those universal playgrounds like Patricia LeBlanc Park and North Park, which are part of a complete list of parks and trails available for some sunny day fun.
